Message from the Head of Department

The four-year Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) in Accounting Programme comprises the principles and theories of accounting as well as the application of this knowledge to practice.  This degree programme is designed to equip graduates with the technical competencies in accounting and good generic skills, and an ability to apply that knowledge to meet the needs of the profession and society of Hong Kong and of China.

The Programme is fully recognized and accredited by local and overseas professional accounting bodies, including Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA). Graduates from this degree programme may seek employment in professional accounting firms, business organizations, Hong Kong SAR Government, or pursue postgraduate studies at local and overseas universities.

Aims and Objectives

• To provide students with a broad understanding of inter-related business disciplines;
• To develop students’ competence in professional and practical skills of various accounting disciplines and an awareness of ethical issues;
• To develop in students the generic skills in communication, team building, and critical thinking for problem solving;
• To stimulate students’ interest in and understanding of Chinese culture and develop a whole and balanced personality.
